Our Flat Roofs

We only quote Firestone RubberCover™ EPDM Roofing System. The product was introduced as a direct replacement for standard felt roofs. It is ideal as a long-lasting, durable solution for residential flat roofs such as extensions, verandas, dormers, porches, garages, carports, garden sheds and balconies. We can often lay the rubber down in 1 piece, without any joints. The product comes with a 50-year lifespan so once its down, its down! Finishing for the rubber roof comes in the form of either white or black quicktrim. Unlike felt and flashing, this system is tidy and seamless. It is also a Flame-free and easy installation for our teams. Talking of flame, it is also Fire resistance so can be used when building close to residential fence boundaries.

We have seen some of our clients over the years apply for planning permission to use the flat roof as a balcony with balustrades. Although rather a leftfield idea, where we have done this, it works remarkably well and is a great answer to the familiar question of “can you walk on it for maintenance?”.

With the introduction of a lantern or skylight, a flat roof becomes more like an Orangery. When extending bungalows, or chalet roofs (or any building to avoid a box valley gutter) this a great option. You can often achieve a run-through ceiling to the adjoining room, a superb 0.12 u-value and we can be very mindful on how much light you introduce to the space with bespoke size lanterns. As it is not a modular build process, we can build from scratch meaning every job is different.

A warm EPDM roof in winter is worth its weight in gold. With its rubber based flexibility it is resistant to ice and snow. Also, as a natural insulator it helps to provide an all-important thermal layer to help reduce the cold transferring from outside to in.

Orangery

If you are looking to add value, space and class to your property, then the Orangery could be the way forward. An Orangery is an elegant extension, flooded with light. The style of an orangery can be somewhat replicated using EPDM rubber roofing with either skylights or a single lantern too.
